The Art of Moving

I will be the first to tell you that I have made a plethora of mistakes in my life.
One I will always regret is listening to legal advice telling me to go, when I should have stayed.
My choice. My free will. My mistake.
And when we moved to HI almost 3 years ago, I regretted for Thomas chosing to not say goodbye to his best friend because it was too hard.
My mistake letting him make that choice.
But in all mistakes, there must be forgiveness.
At least, if you are truly a Christian.
...

O's best friend is moving away tomorrow.
We met up with K and his mom to say our goodbyes at the Sweet Frog.
If you don't know what Sweet Frog is, it is a self serve a frozen yogurt shop.
Yummy!

And I guess this is the review for Sweet Frog.
As well as their friendship.
We will miss you, K-man.

be blessed,

Keep your flame lit, and you will never feel darkness. ~J. Parker

It's how I feel about marriage.
This week marks year 5 for James and I meeting. It doesn't seem possible that time has passed us by so quickly.
....
Houzz has become my GO-TO site these last few months.
And because we pretty much figured out what our kitchen will look like, I feel confident to show you the likes of what I've found that resemble what we're doing.

There are a few changes like we won't have the hutch on the right end, and the dishwasher and the cabinet has swapped places. The dishwasher will be panel ready, so it will look like a cupboard as well.
My favorite thing are the windows.
Nice. And. Big.

Here is another that is sort of like what we are doing.
This adds the island that we will have.
I am still looking for the perfect Apron Front Sink. {aka farmhouse sink}

....
There is something that we totally forgot about, and that was lighting.
And while yesterday I was banned from looking at kitchens {because I've changed my mind a hundred times}, I took the opportunity to look at some lighting ideas for above the island.

So what do you think?
....
And because none of the photos shown above are my own, I feel it's only appropriate to leave you with this. {He is teaching himself how to play.}
be blessed!

Set Backs

They are frustrating.
And no one wants to have them during a build.
Especially not the ones who are doing the building.
It rained down south and snowed at home yesterday.
Weather is the WORST thing to cause a set back.
Well... that, and not having the kind of flooring you want.
....

We met with the kitchen designer yesterday.
She will be forwarding her design to us later in the week.
I have a feeling there will be changes made.
Especially since we are still debating on flooring.

Weigh in on this, won't you?
Here are a couple flooring colors we are looking at choosing.

We would like wood throughout the first floor.
The second floor is only the FROG and will be carpeted.
Maybe you would not choose wood.
....

What does your dream flooring look like?
{My}Curious mind wants to know.
....

be blessed!

Clearing The Land

Let me start by saying I feel good about sharing things about the house with you, now.
We met with the builder on Friday when we went and saw this...

We left for a while, and came back to our meeting to find it staked out.
They will probably begin pouring cement this week if the permits come back by Wednesday and the weather holds out.
Next to our lot is one that hasn't been cleared away yet. That will be done this week, along with the digging out of the drainage area. The small trees that you can see in the back of our lot, will also be cleared away in order to ensure no issues with the septic tank.

We found out there are a lot of snakes in North Carolina; including copperheads, timber rattlesnakes, cotton mouths, and coral snakes. (It should make for an interesting first summer there!)

Thank you for coming along on this journey we are taking! I appreciate everyone's feedback, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

be blessed!

"The ornaments of our house will be the guests who frequent it." author unknown

I got the email yesterday afternoon that they had cleared the lot, and were going to stake out the land today. I hemmed and hawed about driving down to catch a photo before anything occured on the land. Finally when I decided, we had just an hour to get down to catch any last glimpse of sunlight we could.

Then... we got stuck in traffic, so I turned around. I knew that I wasn't going to catch anything.

As disappointed as I was last night, I know everything happens for a reason.

And if you know me at all, I whole heartedly believe that. Those aren't just words that I speak.

Instead of giving you a "beginning" shot, here is what our plat looks like.

I was "schooled" on the difference between plot and plat when I started to work for the high-end irrigation company. {sorry MOV for stealing that from you.} Don't ask... to me it's the same thing.

Unless staking occured early this morning, I would say it didn't occur at all. Our friend, Mr. Inclimate Weather, showed up today.

Does it look like a good placement?
....

We are still in search of colors; nailing the interior down to one, for now, is harder than I thought. Cousin LEW has me swayed towards the greys. {Thank you for your input!} I have been using Houzz.com and Pinterest to view sample colors. You may find alot of "wall colors" on my board soon, as soon as I can link them up.
....

Last, but not least, THANK YOU for all of your support through all of this. I know you have other things to do besides read my blog, and message me on facebook. Your input and ideas are fantastic, and are truly appreciated!

be blessed!

Pizza Love

A couple weekends ago, my darling husband made us the homemade pizza that he often does. He makes the dough from scratch using our Kitchen aid mixer he bought me for my birthday.

On this particular day, however, whilst throwing the dough in the air, like a real pizza-pie-man, it slipped away from him, and he caught it in his arms against his shirt. Below is the image that was left imprinted by the flour on his shirt.

My pizza was made with the shrimp that he had picked up for me earlier in the week. He cooked them up for some shrimp and pesto pizza for us. {I really don't like red sauce.}

Doesn't it look delish?! It is probably my favorite because it is made with Pizza Love.

What is your favorite pizza? Do you make homemade pizza? We are always looking for new ideas, so leave me a note if you have a favorite!

be blessed,
